ESN employs several types of Heavy Duty probes: Geoprobe® 66DT and 54DT, Megaprobes® and AMS Power Probes®.
These are powerful hydraulic direct push units equipped with a large vibratory hammer mounted on 1½-2 ton
trucks or on tracks. The direct push hydraulic units have 40,000 pound pullback capacity, providing ample
force to overcome most common geologic conditions. Some rigs are equipped with auger heads.
These probes can sample soil, soil vapor, and groundwater; and can install small diameter wells in generally unconsolidated sediments at depths approaching 100-feet, depending on lithology. The rig uses 1.5" to 3.25" probe rod and up to 7" augers. The rig cannot drill bedrock formations, but can penetrate some weathered formations.
